Home/Where to stay/Lapad/4- and 5-star hotels
4- and 5-star hotels in Lapad
A shortlist of the 4- and 5-star hotels and guesthouses in Lapad, the pine-shaded peninsula west of Dubrovnik's Old Town. It is for travellers who want a swimming bay, a promenade and a bus to the walls rather than a rooftop view over the bell tower.
Staying in Lapad
Lapad is where locals live and where families stay: a pine-shaded promenade, a proper swimming bay, and a bus to the walls every ten minutes. By 9pm the promenade is families finishing ice creams, teenagers on rented bikes and pensioners on the benches under the pines; nobody is dressed up and nobody is trying. The bars around the bay stay open later than the shops, which shut around 10pm outside July and August. The forested headland at the tip of the peninsula holds big resort hotels, small hidden coves and quiet nights. It is a district for people who want a swim before breakfast and a supermarket within reach, not for people chasing the Old Town's bell-tower views from a rooftop bar.
Most of the hotels on this list sit along Lapadska Obala, the waterfront road on the bay, or on the streets just behind it — Mata Vodopica, Masarykov put, Dr. Ante Šercera. Others sit on the residential slope inland, on Marka Marulica, Dalmatinska and Iva Vojnovica, still within the peninsula. Couples and families get the promenade and the bay; business travellers get 24-hour desks and business centres at the larger houses; short-break visitors get a beach nearby without crossing town.

Where to stay in Lapad
Lapadska Obala

Dr. Ante Šercera

Getting there and around
A car is a liability here: parking is scarce and the promenade itself is pedestrian-only. The 1A and 1B buses cover the Old Town and Gruž every ten minutes, and everything else in Lapad — the beach, the shops, the bars — is within a 15-minute walk of any hotel on the peninsula. Bus 6 runs back to Pile from the stop above Cava beach on the Babin Kuk headland. For a longer walk, start at the top of Šetalište Kralja Tomislava, follow the pine promenade down to the bay, then the coast path clockwise around the peninsula past Sunset Beach Bar and the small Copacabana cove below the Villa Wolff, crossing onto Babin Kuk through pine woodland to Cava beach: 4 km in all.
When to go
The site's own note on the district is that the shops shut around 10pm outside July and August, and that the bars around the bay stay open later — so the promenade's late-evening life is a summer thing. In general terms, the swimming bay and the pine promenade are at their best in the warm months, when families finish ice creams on the benches; outside July and August the peninsula is quieter in the evening. Choose summer for the swim-before-breakfast routine, and the shoulder months if you want the same bay with fewer people on the promenade.
