About Postira

Brač itself is the third-largest island in the Adriatic and is easily reached by ferry from Split. Postira lies on the northern side, roughly halfway between the ferry port of Supetar and the town of Bol, famous for its windsurfing and the Zlatni Rat beach. The island's interior is dotted with pine forests, olive groves, and historic villages, while the coastline offers numerous coves and clear swimming spots. Postira is also close to the quarries that have supplied stone for notable buildings, including Diocletian's Palace in Split.

Where to stay in Postira

Postira town centre. The area around the harbour and the main square puts you within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and the beach.

Porat. A quieter coastal strip just west of Postira, with pebble beaches and a handful of accommodations.

Lovrečina Bay. A scenic bay east of Postira, home to the ruins of an early Christian basilica and a pebble beach.

Getting there and around

Postira is on the island of Brač, which is reached by ferry from Split. The most frequent ferry route connects Split with Supetar, and from there it is a short drive or bus ride to Postira. There is also a ferry from Split to Bol, at the eastern end of the island. Buses run between Supetar and Postira, and taxis are available at the ferry ports. On the island, renting a car or scooter gives you the most flexibility to explore, though local buses also connect the main settlements. Dubrovnik is much farther south along the coast and is not a practical starting point for a day trip to Postira.

When to go

The best time to visit Postira is from May to October, when the weather is warm and the sea is pleasant for swimming. July and August are the busiest and hottest months, with temperatures often reaching the high 20s to low 30s Celsius. June and September offer a good balance of warm weather and fewer crowds. Winter is mild but quiet, with many tourist facilities closed.
