About Kastel Stari

Unlike its better-known neighbours, Kastel Stari keeps a low profile. Its waterfront is a working harbour with fishing boats and a pebble beach, and the old core rewards a slow walk: the parish church of St. John the Baptist, the Vitturi castle, and a few konoba-style restaurants serving local seafood. The town is largely residential, which gives it a quieter feel than Split or Trogir, yet both are within easy reach for day trips.

Kastel Stari sits on the eastern side of the Kastela bay, with views across to Split and the Marjan peninsula. The wider Kastela area is known for its long seaside path, which links the seven towns and is popular with walkers and cyclists. The town is a practical base for exploring central Dalmatia, including the UNESCO-listed Diocletian's Palace in Split and the historic core of Trogir.
