5-star hotels in Rovinj

Rovinj is a Venetian-style town of narrow stone streets and a harbour lined with cafés and restaurants, with the Church of St. Euphemia on the highest point of the old town. The coastline is rocky and indented, backed by pine woods and small coves, and several hotels sit just outside the centre, particularly in the Zlatni Rt forest park and on the nearby islands.

Most of these five-star hotels are within about 1 km of the centre, along Luje Adamovica, Smareglijeva Ulica and A. Smareglia, between the old town and the Golden Cape. Others are further out: villas and apartments at Vestar, Zupani, Pudarica and Maricuvica lie 4.5 to 6.6 km away, one house at Pifari is 18.2 km out, and one apartment sits right on Ulica G. Garibaldi 0.9 km from the centre. The big resorts with indoor pools, fitness centres, kids pools and family rooms suit couples and families; the villas with outdoor pools and kitchens suit groups and longer stays, and business travellers are served by the business centres and 24-hour front desks.

Getting there and around

Rovinj is about 40 kilometres from Pula, which has an international airport. Buses connect Rovinj with Pula, Zagreb and other Croatian cities, and there are seasonal ferry links to Venice and other Adriatic ports. By car, the town is reached via the Istrian Y motorway (A9) and then the local roads. Within Rovinj, the old town is compact and best explored on foot; parking is available on the outskirts. Local buses and taxis serve the wider area, and boats run to the nearby islands. Cycling is popular along the coastal paths.

When to go

The best time to visit Rovinj is from May to June or September to October, when the weather is mild and the summer crowds are smaller. July and August are the busiest and hottest months, with sea temperatures suitable for swimming. Winter is quiet, and some seasonal businesses close, but the town remains open for visitors interested in a peaceful stay.
