5-star hotels in Rabac

Rabac is a small coastal town on the eastern side of Istria, built around a bay with pebble and rocky beaches, a harbour with fishing boats and leisure craft, and the Lungomare promenade that links the seafront and continues towards Labin on the hill above. The town grew as the port of Labin, a historic mining town, and today it is mainly a tourist destination with waterfront restaurants, walking paths, diving sites and good conditions for sailing and windsurfing in the bay.

Most of these 5-star properties sit in Rabac itself, a few hundred metres from the centre and the beach, with the villas above the bay in Gornji Rabac; one is further south at Sveta Marina, 5.6 km from the centre. The compact, walkable seafront suits couples and short-break visitors who want the beach and restaurants on foot, while the larger villas with pools, gardens and family facilities work well for families and groups.

Getting there and around

Rabac is accessible by road from major Istrian towns. It is about 45 km from Pula, where the nearest airport is located, and around 90 km from Rijeka. Buses connect Rabac with Labin, Pula and other towns in Istria, and the main road into Rabac descends from Labin. From Pula Airport the journey takes about 45 minutes by car, with buses running from Pula to Labin and connections on to Rabac. Once in Rabac the town is compact and walkable, with the Lungomare promenade linking the beaches and hotels; local buses and taxis are available, but many visitors rely on walking or cycling.

When to go

The best time to visit Rabac is from May to September, when the weather is warm and the sea is suitable for swimming. July and August are the busiest months, with numerous events and activities. June and September offer milder temperatures and fewer crowds. Winter months are quieter, with many tourist facilities closed, but the town remains accessible for those interested in off-season walks and the surrounding landscape.
