Home/Where to stay/Dobrinj/5-star hotels
5-star hotels in Dobrinj
A shortlist of the 5-star stays in and around Dobrinj on the island of Krk, from apartments by the sea at Šilo to villas with pools in Klimno, Kras and Gostinjac. It is for travellers who want space, a pool and a quiet base on the island's coast or in its inland villages.
Staying in Dobrinj
Dobrinj is a quiet municipality on the island of Krk, inland, north of the town of Krk, with a medieval hilltop old town first mentioned in the 12th century and a coastline of small villages such as Šilo, Klimno and Čižići. Guests come for the old town, the historical churches and beaches, and for the olive groves and vineyards that reflect the island's traditional agricultural life. The hotels on this shortlist are not one block: addresses run from Klimno on the sheltered bay to Kras, Sveti Vid Dobrinjski, Gostinjac, Zestilac and Gabonjin inland, with one resort at Ulica Jesenovica in Šilo, 4.1 km from the centre.
The mix suits different trips. Couples and small groups get villas with outdoor pools, jacuzzis and saunas, several with sea views and the beach nearby in Klimno and Šilo. Families find playgrounds, games rooms, cots and high chairs, and family rooms at Cool Šilo Appartement Resort and VSG Resort. Business travellers are less served here, though express check-in, free wifi and free parking are common. A short break works best with a car, since the villages are spread along the coast and inland.

Getting there and around
Dobrinj is on the island of Krk, connected to the mainland by the Krk Bridge. The nearest airport is Rijeka Airport, which is on the island, and from there it is a short drive to Dobrinj; buses and taxis are available, and from Dubrovnik you would travel north along the coast to reach Krk. Getting around Dobrinj and its coastal villages is easiest by car, as public transport is limited. Taxis and rental cars are available in larger towns on the island.
When to go
May to September is the best time to visit, when the weather is warm and suitable for swimming and outdoor activities. July and August are the busiest months, with many events and festivals. Spring and autumn bring milder temperatures and fewer crowds, making them ideal for exploring the countryside and historical sites, while winter is quiet, with some facilities closed.
