Sukosan is a village in northern Dalmatia, about 10 kilometres southeast of Zadar, known for Marina Dalmacija, the largest marina in Croatia, its pebble beaches and traditional Dalmatian architecture. The historic core has narrow stone streets and the parish church of St. John the Baptist, while the seafront runs from the centre towards the marina, lined with beaches, cafes and sea views. Inland, the hinterland is quieter, with family houses and gardens.

Once in Sukosan, most areas are walkable, but a car or bicycle is useful for exploring the surrounding region.

When to go

The best time to visit Sukosan is from May to September, when the Adriatic Sea is warm enough for swimming and the weather is sunny and dry. July and August are the busiest months, with many festivals and events. June and September offer pleasant temperatures with fewer crowds. Winter months are mild but quieter, with some restaurants and attractions closed. Spring and autumn are ideal for hiking and cycling in the nearby Velebit mountains and along the coast.
