4- and 5-star hotels in Jesenice

Jesenice is a quiet seaside settlement in the municipality of Dugi Rat, about 20 kilometres southeast of Split and 10 kilometres northwest of Omiš. It grew from a fishing and farming community and today lives largely on tourism, with a growing number of private villas and apartments. The coast here is a succession of coves and bays, including Suhi Potok and Krilo, popular for swimming and snorkelling, while the slopes of the Mosor mountain range rise behind the village and offer hiking and wide views of the Adriatic. It is a base for the beaches and for trips to Omiš and Split.

The properties on this shortlist sit in Staro Selo, along Poljička Cesta in Sumpetar, and around Ljudevita Gaja and Krug, mostly between 0.3 and 1.4 kilometres from the centre. All are 5-star villas and homes with private outdoor pools, plus one 4-star apartment. That mix suits families and groups who want space, a kitchen, a sauna or pool, and room to spread out, as well as couples looking for a calm coastal base for a short break.

Getting there and around

Jesenice is reached by road on the D8 state road, the Adriatic Highway that links Split and Omiš. Split Airport is approximately 35 kilometres away, and Split's main bus and train stations are about 20 kilometres northwest. Local bus lines run between Split and Omiš and stop in Jesenice and Dugi Rat. Walking is practical along the coast between Jesenice and its hamlets, but a car or scooter is useful for reaching nearby towns and beaches, and taxis and ride-sharing services are available from Split and Omiš.

When to go

The best time to visit Jesenice is from May to October, when the Adriatic is warm enough for swimming and the weather is consistently sunny. July and August are the busiest months, with the highest temperatures and the most visitors. June and September offer pleasant weather with fewer crowds. Winters are mild but wet, with limited tourist activities, and the local beaches are most enjoyable in the morning and late afternoon during the peak summer months.
