Mlini is a small seaside village between Dubrovnik and Cavtat, built around a stream whose name means mills and which once powered flour mills. Today it is a low-key strip of small hotels and holiday apartments along about 800 metres of shore, with three pebble beaches and the 12th-century parish church of Sv. Ilar on the promenade. There is no real centre beyond the church and a small harbour where fishing boats and day-trip operators tie up. A mini-market and a bakery opening at 7am cover basics. The appeal is calm water, shade and little through-traffic off the D8 highway. Older couples and families with young children tend to love it; younger travellers seeking bars and late nights should look elsewhere. A coastal path leads through pines to Cavtat, about 45 minutes.
